Star Wars 1981 Vintage Dagobah Playset Reviewed!

Story by Mitchell Smith

Hello everyone, today we are starting a new weekly segment dedicated to Star Wars. Anything you might like to see drop a message and I’ll put it on my list. In 1977 a small movie hit theaters and took the world by storm. Star Wars was one that almost didn’t get made, but here we are now and this is one of the most successful franchises in our time. Along with the movies this also has had one of the most successful toy lines of our time with figures, vehicles, and playsets.

The Empire Strikes Back is arguably the best sequel to any movie and perhaps better then the original movie. Dagobah was one of the most Interesting places and introduced one of the most iconic characters in the franchise. Along with the movie came the 1981 Dagobah playset. It was a relatively simple set with Yoda’s iconic hut in the center and various moving pieces to reenact scenes from the movie. The mud pit is one of the coolest features and one of the hardest things to find on the playset today as most of the sponge material has been torn away or dried up and fallen off.

For mine pictured I have replaced it with some material and left it whole. Most of the extra pieces are missing but this is still a solid set for a child to play with or a collector to display figures. Overall this is an iconic playset and was one I always wanted as a kid but never had. Star Wars continues to put out playsets and this is one that would be cool if they released in a modern version. I did get a shot with some 6 inch figures and close up I think they look pretty cool.

Who had Dagobah as a kid? What is your favorite Star Wars playset? Sound off below and let us know! Make sure to check back for more Star Wars reviews and stories.
